Overview

The Lead Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for providing training and instruction; and setting the work pace of the Accounts Payable group. This role will oversee distribution of tasks, resolve escalated issues, and act as liaison between the team and management.

Primary Responsibilities

• Train Accounts Payable Clerks to handle all calls and issues presented
• Resolve escalated customer issues in a timely and efficient manner according to company guidelines
• Assist in processing claims for Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) vendors by reviewing quantities from receiving and invoicing
• Perform Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt clearing account reconciliation by researching and determining the proper course of action to resolve differences
• Respond to customer and vendor inquiries regarding account information via telephone, email, and/or fax
• Code and enter accounting information into accounting system
• Sort, file, and maintain accounts payable files and related documents
• Research and resolve accounting errors
• Print accounts payable reports
• Assist with updating and reconciling ledgers, journals, and/or accounts
• Process federal beverage tax matching to purchase orders and feedback on materials that have variances
• Assist in processing Moving Average Price (MAP) update requests for materials from warehouses
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to team members
• Act as liaison between team members and management
• Perform other job related duties as assigned

Additional Primary Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency plus 2 years of experience
• Knowledge with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal regulatory guidelines, and organizational objectives
• Proficiency using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in creating pivot tables, develop charts, and complex formulas

• Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine
• Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
• May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15lbs
