Overview
Maintain cashier desk which includes maintenance of petty cash and stamps, cashes checks for employees and other miscellaneous cash duties.
Primary Responsibilities
- Pre-audit and reconcile daily payments received from delivery drivers, sales representatives, and customer
- Separate invoices into established categories and investigate shortages and overages
- Perform a series of checks on the invoices and driver paperwork to make sure they are signed, collected if Cash on Delivery (COD), credited if shorted/damaged/refused, etc.
- Prepare the daily deposit to the bank
- Communicate unresolved issues with Accounts Receivable personnel
- Assist with completion of the applicable IRS form to report cash payments over $10K
- Monitor and balance petty cash
- Batch and balance out all payments received for entry into the system
- Compile and distribute reports
- Maintain security of the warehouse and all product
- Retrieve and post payments from lockbox, wires, Fintech software
- Post payments from automated clearing house (ACH), electronic check (E-Check), and remote deposit
- Scan and upload checks for remote deposit transmittal (RDS)
- Retrieve deposit slips for Salesman Cash Depository account and post accordingly
- Process telephone payments
- Identify IRS 8300 payments and provide management with supporting documentation
- Reconciliation of daily deposit balancing report and submit to Accounting
- Maintain inventory and distribution bank-related supplies and cash receipts
- Relieve Receptionist for breaks and/or lunches as needed and will also cover phones last hour of the day
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Additional Primary Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED plus 1 year of experience
- 1 year of experience as a cashier, working in a banking environment, or bookkeeping experience
- Knowledge in reconciling cash receipts and invoices
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Knowledge using AS400 Account Receivables systems
- Knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner
- Proficiency using high mathematical concepts such as fractions, algebra, statistics, mathematical modeling and, to some extent, calculus
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine
- Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
