Southern Glazer’s offers a competitive compensation package with expected first year total earnings range of $90,000 to $100,000 base. This salary range is an average range for this position. In determining a final offer, the company will evaluate a specific candidate's education, skills and experience and will make an offer appropriately.

Overview

The Wine & Spirit Area Manager is expected to achieve quantifiable sales and brand development objectives of target brands within the area. The Area Manager is expected to plan time and activities to ensure the continuing achievement of Shaw-Ross sales and brand development objectives, as well as, serve as an information resource for and conduit between customers and Shaw-Ross sales and executive management.

Primary Responsibilities

  • On-premise: achieving wine list and wine-by-the-glass features as well as cocktail list / back bar placements from our Spirits portfolio, developing new accounts in line with defined measurable numbers agreed with  line manager.
  • Off-premise: achieving distribution, displays, as well as effective shelf and cold box presentation of brands to the consumer at the point of purchase and of developing new accounts against defines numerical perameters set by line manager
  • Implement monthly Distributor Sales Team meetings on local basis is required.
  • Host Supplier visits and dinners to market where nesessary.
  • Conducting PR events and educational presentations on the features & benefits of target wine brands in conjunction with on- and off-premise objectives above.
  • Adhering to all federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing the sale of alcoholic beverage products in accounts.
  • Providing specific, current information regarding customer situations, trade and consumer trends and the effectiveness of programs executed.
  • Submitting required reports promptly and accurately as directed by the State General Manager.
  • Monitor Distributor inventory at field level.

Additional Primary Responsibilities

  • Effectively planning and executing sales calls on on- and off-premise customers as required to achieve sales objectives.
  • Planning and working with distributor sales representatives and managers is a must.
  • Host local Distributor Sales Team meetings on monthly basis.
  • Host Trade and Consummer events building brand loyalty and awareness.
  • Developing effective customer specific brand merchandising and promotional programs based on available resources.
  • Preparing effective presentations that encompass an in-depth knowledge of  W&S sales trends, goals and strategies, purchasing, promotional practices and business development needs in liason with line manager.
  • Ensuring the W&S department’s financial and other resources (samples, etc.) are effectively used to exploit sales and brand development opportunities.
  • Publish weekly Sales reports inline with GSM requirements.                                     
  • Coordinating with the Shaw-Ross sales & marketing organization and wholesaler to follow through in designated Area to achieve account store / unit level distribution and promotion support for programs.
  • Monitoring expenditures versus established budgets.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Advance computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Office Products-Excel, Power Point, Word, Outlook
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • 5 to 7 years of experience related to the industry
  • Comprehensive understanding of wine & spirits to include regions/varietals, product/food paring techniques
  • WSET or other Wine/Spirit Certification preferred 
  • Strong and established relationships in the Market Place is preferred
  • Lift carries a 45+ pound case of product
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Goal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervision
  • Must have personal car
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and current insurance
  • Must carry auto insurance, $100,000/$300,000 in vehicle liability and $50,000 in property damage
  • Evening work at account level will play a part in routine.
