Overview

Experienced UiPath Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions using the UiPath Automation Platform. Collaborates with business stakeholders, process owners, analysts, and technology teams to identify automation opportunities, gather requirements, and translate manual business processes into scalable, reliable, and maintainable automated workflows.

Develops automation solutions using UiPath Studio and manages deployment, monitoring, and production support through UiPath Orchestrator. Designs reusable automation components, implements robust exception handling and logging, integrates automations with enterprise applications and systems, and ensures solutions comply with security, quality, performance, and governance standards.

Participates across the full automation lifecycle, including process assessment, solution design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and continuous optimization. Contributes to establishing and promoting RPA development standards, best practices, reusable frameworks, and governance processes to drive automation consistency and operational excellence across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise RPA solutions using UiPath Studio and the UiPath Automation Platform.
  • Translate business requirements and process documentation into scalable, reliable, and maintainable UiPath workflows.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders and process owners to understand existing processes, identify automation opportunities, and determine appropriate automation approaches.
  • Develop workflows using UiPath best practices, including appropriate use of variables, arguments, activities, workflows, reusable components, selectors, data manipulation, and exception handling.
  • Develop automations that interact with a variety of business applications, including web applications, desktop applications, ERP systems, Microsoft Office applications, databases, APIs, files, and other enterprise systems.
  • Utilize UiPath Orchestrator to deploy, configure, schedule, monitor, and manage automation processes, including Robots, Jobs, Assets, Queues, and Processes.
  • Implement robust logging, exception handling, retry mechanisms, and business-rule validation to improve automation reliability and maintainability.
  • Develop automations using appropriate UiPath frameworks and design patterns, including the Robotic Enterprise Framework (REFramework) when applicable.
  • Create and maintain reusable components, libraries, templates, and development standards to improve consistency and accelerate automation delivery.
  • Integrate UiPath solutions with APIs, databases, and other enterprise technologies when appropriate to deliver efficient and resilient automation solutions.
  • Conduct unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance testing support, and production validation of automation solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation failures, application changes, selector issues, data exceptions, and other production incidents.
  • Monitor production automations and proactively identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, scalability, and business value.
  • Maintain technical documentation, including solution designs, process definitions, workflow documentation, deployment procedures, support documentation, and exception-handling requirements.
  • Participate in automation implementation, migration, and modernization initiatives, including evaluating existing automations for opportunities to improve architecture, maintainability, and performance.
  • Research and evaluate new UiPath capabilities, features, tools, and technologies to expand the organization's automation capabilities.
  • Follow established software development lifecycle, change management, security, and governance standards.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security, application development, data, and other technology teams to ensure automation solutions are secure, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for UiPath and RPA-related issues and provide advanced support for escalated automation incidents.
  • Contribute to organizational learning by sharing UiPath development techniques, automation best practices, reusable solutions, and lessons learned across teams.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, operational toil, processing time, and errors through intelligent and scalable automation.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Typically, 3+ years of experience developing, implementing, and supporting software or automation solutions.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience developing RPA solutions using UiPath, including UiPath Studio and UiPath Orchestrator.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting production-grade UiPath automations.
  • Strong understanding of UiPath development concepts, including workflows, activities, variables, arguments, selectors, exception handling, logging, debugging, and reusable components.
  • Experience working with UiPath Orchestrator, including Robots, Jobs, Processes, Assets, Queues, and scheduling.
  • Experience integrating automation solutions with web and desktop applications, Microsoft Office, databases, APIs, file systems, and other enterprise applications.
  • Experience with structured development methodologies, source control, testing practices, and software development lifecycle processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business processes and requirements into technical automation solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Native-level proficiency/fluent in English.
  • Experience working in Agile and/or DevOps environments preferred.
  • UiPath certification(s), such as UiPath Certified Professional Developer, preferred.
  • Experience with SQL, APIs, .NET, C#, VB.NET, JavaScript, PowerShell, or other programming/scripting technologies preferred.
  • Experience with cloud technologies and/or cloud-based automation environments preferred.
  • Experience with process discovery, process analysis, or RPA governance preferred.
