Overview

The SAP Vendor Management & Licensing, Senior Business Analyst is responsible for developing and supporting the implementation of strategies to enhance partnerships and achieve organizational objectives. This role involves managing moderate vendor relationships, leading multiple mid to high-impact projects. In addition to interfacing with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and legal, the Senior Vendor Management Professional provides guidance to these teams, ensuring vendor qualifications align with evolving business requirements. This role ensures that SAP contracts, licensing models, and vendor services are optimized for cost, compliance, and business value.

 

Using systems analysis models, Senior Business Systems Analysts define business rules, develop specifications and diagrams for development teams, and recommend changes to existing solutions and licensing models.  This role partners closely with IT, Finance, Procurement, Legal, and IT Asset Management (ITAM) to manage vendor performance, govern licensing consumption, and support commercial decision-making. The Senior Business Analyst plays a critical role in shaping the SAP vendor management framework, with an increased focus on licensing strategy, utilization transparency, and contract optimization.

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Support strategic initiatives to develop and refine processes for vendor evaluation, ensuring long-term alignment with organizational goals.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships with key vendors, focusing on long-term relationship building and value creation.
  • Coordinate meetings with vendors, focusing on performance reviews and long-term alignment with business objectives.
  • Facilitate mid to high-level requirement discussions, ensuring strategic alignment and prioritization with organizational goals.
  • Develop comprehensive performance monitoring frameworks, ensuring vendor compliance with strategic objectives.
  • Analyze vendor performance trends and lead strategic initiatives to address and improve any deficiencies.
  • Develop and present detailed end-of-year service reports, highlighting strategic insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Support strategic alignment between IT stakeholders and vendors, ensuring mutual goals are achieved and communicated effectively.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Technology, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in SAP, vendor management, IT finance, or business systems analysis
  • Knowledge of:
    • SAP licensing models (e.g., Named User, Digital Access, cloud subscriptions)
    • Contract structures, renewals, and vendor negotiations
    • IT Asset Management (ITAM) principles and software license compliance
    • Experience supporting SAP contracts, renewals, audits, or licensing optimization initiatives
    • Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret licensing data and financial impacts
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and business audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid knowledge of IT vendor governance practices.
  • Proven experience with sourcing programs and procurement activities, including e-sourcing, RFIs, RFQs, RFPs, SOWs, and SLAs.
  • Solid understanding of the entire vendor lifecycle (e.g., sourcing, procurement, vendor management, performance management, etc.).
  • Relationship management skills to sustain robust work relationships with stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated contract management skills to oversee the entire contract lifecycle.
  • Proven negotiation skills to achieve mutually beneficial agreements and resolve conflicts.
  • Concrete project and risk management skills to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and risks, and draw meaningful insights.
  • Proficiency in vendor management software and tools.
  • Solid knowledge of procurement and sourcing technologies.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with IT project management methodologies and tools.
  • Ability to represent the organization in conversations, discussions, and negotiations with current and potential vendors while handling sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to adhere to ethical standards, maintain integrity, and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
