Overview

Responsible for executing service trending analysis to drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives with our transportation partners. This role must also proactively identify, resolve, and communicate.

Logistics issues related to network performance across the supply chain, with a focus on improving efficiency and reducing costs. The Corporate Logistics Specialist will require collaboration across the organization as required. The Logistics Specialist will be SGWS’s subject matter expert on transportation initiatives, Route to Market opportunities, and will help identify network optimization opportunities for SGWS and its partners.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support Transportation freight requests, including but not limited to freight quotes, booking requests, and coordination of shipment setup.
  • Execute network optimization initiatives, including stateside to DI conversions and Route to Market (RTM) changes, by coordinating with suppliers, transportation partners, and commercial teams.
  • Approve demurrage and detention billing for dryage moves. Identify root causes and escalate for further analysis.
  • Quarterly business meetings with key transportation partners, including rail, key ports, freight forwarders, and ocean carriers
  • Report transportation risks, including International and domestic port and ramp constraints, delays, and disruptions.
  • Prepare data and analysis for RTM initiatives such as seasonal programs
  • Support and update monthly reporting, including demurrage and detention, claims status, and carrier aging
  • Analyze and report on monthly Spot bid activity, including trends and costs
  • Document, define, and support Logistics processes, including but not limited to accessorial approvals and training, claims reporting, and other processes as identified
  • Make transportation recommendations based on fluctuating/seasonal needs
  • Evaluate/process escalations and other issues as needed to work with the teams to resolve logistical issues
  • Coordinate with all parties involved for claims notifications and filings, resolve carrier payment escalations, and approve accessorial carrier invoices (backup)
  • Other job-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of Logistics Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical skills with the ability to find creative solutions to problems.
  • Must have a complete understanding of Microsoft Excel and the other Office Suite software programs.
  • The candidate must possess knowledge of logistics and warehouse processes
  • Knowledge of the freight and transportation industry and processes

  • Physical demands with activity or condition may include occasional to rare amount of time include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 15lbs
