Overview
The Paralegal assists attorneys with labor and employment and litigation matters and manages related data and information. This position reports directly to the Sr. Managing Paralegal.
Primary Responsibilities
• Manage litigation deadlines and respond to subpoenas
• Serve as a liaison for and assist outside counsel regarding discovery, depositions and document production
• Oversee the support provided to the organization's litigation efforts using technology
• Perform quality control of document management and confirm the accuracy of documents
• Manage and analyze data related to litigation, investigations, employee relations matters, and other employment-related claims and issues
• Assist with developing and maintaining department resource materials and databases
• Collaborate and build effective relationships with other departments throughout the Company
• Manage the corporation's legal assistants and litigation technology
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Additional Primary Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree and three years of experience or equivalent education and related experience
• Five years of experience managing litigation and/or labor and employment matters at a law firm or in-house
• Demonstrated sound business ethics and consistently adhering to and promoting these in all business and personal transactions
• Flexible work schedule and ability to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior experience using DocuSign, NAVEX, and Legal Files or similar document management software; experience with Tableau a plus
• Knowledge of and ability to use e-discovery technology and software
• Knowledge of and ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and Company information
• Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting, advice and assistance under guidance of an attorney
• Paralegal certificate
• Experience as a paralegal with in-house legal department
• Ability to type 50 WPM accurately
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
• Excellent reading, writing, and comprehension skills in English
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with colleagues and outside counsel
• Strong cognitive and analytical skills
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish the accuracy of facts and draw valid conclusions
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine
- Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
