Overview
The Machine Operator is responsible for monitoring the operation of the conveyor system and resolving issues that impact safety and productivity. This position is responsible to monitor performance and implement programs to improve operational metrics.
Primary Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor the conveyor system(s) within the warehouse during production
- Regulate software to route trucks to appropriate shipping lanes for maximized production while printing all wave and sub-wave stickers for associates
- Monitor all mis-picked merchandise and update UPC & SCC codes within the system
- Communicate slow production on picking lanes to minimize running out of cases and to assist with the labor movement to management
- Send out nightly production numbers to the management team
- Monitor conveyor systems to ensure proper throughput and speeds
- Start and stop sorting systems as appropriate
- Perform basic troubleshooting to ensure production equipment runs efficiently
- Ensure the safety of employees by monitoring the merge area for broken cases and or loose bottles
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Additional Primary Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED and 1-2 years of warehouse experience
- Minimum of 5 years of distribution center or similar experience
- Experience in a fast-paced, distribution environment with an in-depth conveyor system
- Experience using hand tools, and electrical meters, hydraulics, and pneumatics also a working knowledge of conveyors and conveyor systems
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include a considerable amount of time walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and stooping
- Additional hours may be required during October, November, and December and other peak periods
- Capable of working flexible hours which could include overnight, early morning, and/or late evening
- May require working at heights of 8 feet or greater
- May require lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 56lbs
